Sony is one of those companies. Not only people are not buying PS3 at a rate that is acceptable to Sony, the company is not exactly too many of its high-end gadgets either. Technology companies have learned from the netbook movement, however. If you have a device that is capable and cheap, people spend money on it. The netbook market is growing in these tough times, and it is expected to grow even more. Recession friendly gadgets are on the rise, and that’s what Sony will be trying to use to gain back some of those lost profits.

WSJ is now reporting that Sony will be selling cheap camcorders to target the conservative consumers. Webbie HD is one of those gadgets. It’s cheap, and it gets the job done. The economy may be showing some signs of life, but that doesn’t mean people are ready to spend money. A lot of people still don’t have jobs, and you can’t buy expensive gadgets when you don’t know whether you’ll have a job to pay for your rent. Is this a smart move? It has worked for netbook manufacturers. But the jury is still out on Sony’s latest move.
